2016 Ebor Festival dates - The full schedule for York's famous meeting

The dates for the 2016 Ebor Festival have been revealed and another exciting meeting looks in store.

August sees the excellent York Ebor meeting take place across five days of the famous Knavesmire. Find out the full programme of events and race schedule for each day's racing.

The highlight of August's programme is undoubtedly that of York’s four-day Ebor meeting, which runs from Wednesday 17th August through to its culmination on Saturday 20th August.

It is a meeting to rival the top fixtures found at other venues throughout the year, and attracts some of the best horses from across the country and beyond to contest on the Knavesmire over the four days of the festival.

So, what can punters look forward to over the four-day feast of racing on York’s famous venue, where glitz and glamour once again go hand-in-hand with the best in equine action?

For those who can’t make it to York, Channel 4 Racing will be covering the action live each day.


A cracking opening day on the Knavesmire, with the Group One Juddmonte International Stakes being the highlight of the day’s action; it is supplemented by the famous Great Voltigeur Stakes, A Group Two contest, and the Acomb Stakes amongst the quality six-race card.

Day two of York’s Ebor meeting kicks off with the first of six races at 1.55pm, featuring the day’s highlight, the Group One Yorkshire Oaks at 3.40pm. Also on the card is the Group Two Lowther Stakes, and a competitive handicap in the Clipper Logistics Stakes.

Day three of the York Ebor festival sees six races take place, including the day’s feature event which is the Group One Nunthorpe Stakes, run over a flying five furlongs.

The fourth and final day of York’s Ebor meeting features the main event itself, due off at 3.50pm. Also on the card on Saturday is the Group Two Gimcrack Stakes, and the Group Three Strensall Stakes, on what promises to be a cracking final day on the Knavesmire.
